If you drive a 2018 or 2019 Toyota or Lexus, it’s important to check the models that are included in the latest recall issued by the manufacturer. At this time, the fuel pump recall affects only US models. Fuel pumps that stop working while operating an affected vehicle can potentially cause a dangerous crash. There is currently an investigation underway to find a solution for the defective fuel pumps.

According to CNN, the following models are included in this recall:

• 2018-2019 model year Lexus LS 500, LC 500, RC 350, RC 300, GS 350, IS 300, ES 350, LX 570, GX 460, and RX 350
• Certain 2019 model year Lexus NX 300, RX 350L, and GS 300
• Certain 2018-2019 model year Toyota 4Runner, Camry, Highlander, Land Cruiser, Sequoia, Sienna, Tacoma, and Tundra
• Certain 2019 model year Toyota Avalon and Corolla

Lexus & Toyota Fuel Pump Issues

Vehicles named in this safety recall may have a fuel pump that stops working. It is possible that a warning light and message will display on your dashboard and your engine may run rough. Please be aware that this may cause your vehicle to stall and at high speeds, could result in a crash. Stalled vehicles with faulty fuel pumps may not restart and will require a tow.
